OCEANS Mnemonic device?

Post by 69Coronet » Thu Dec 15, 2011 3:01 pm

I know that somewhere on this forum exists a thread full of mnemonic devices for various legal topics.
Unfortunately I did not tag it and therefore cannot find it again, and searching for it is proving to be in vain...

I am trying to remember what "OCEANS" stands for regarding prescription and adverse possession (in Property).
I'm going through a few old outlines from 2Ls at my school, just trying to make sure that my outline is complete and properly assembled, and they all use the term, but none of them define it. I get it has 6 variables, I'm just not entirely sure what they are...
I know it was in that thread about mnemonic devices, so it can't be limited to my school or anything.

Anybody have any tips as to what it stands for, and perhaps where I can find that thread?

Ahh.
Information that was hiding under my nose, and that is on my outline...

Hats off to you, good sir.

The S stands for statute of limitations.

I know this is supa old, but the A stands for actual. You can find this information in Wikipedia. I was just looking for a more definitive explination to OCEAN. We have no s on ours, but statute of limitations would fit well! :D

I believe the S stands for statutes (the time required for the adverse possession)
