It's really hard to answer this question without knowing your budget. That said, my first thought when I read quiet streets and no interest in nightlife was Stuy Town. It's a residential development and it's within walking distance to Dozo. If you're looking for cheaper options, Prospect Heights in Brooklyn might be worth a shot. There are pockets of very quiet streets and it's an easy commute to Union Square (I'd say 25-30 min).
Sorry, I don't know much about Hamilton Heights.

I think you would have a good shot finding something decent in Prospect Heights or Brooklyn Heights. I know you said the commute wasn't important, but they are both really close to Cardozo. Those are just neighborhoods that I know to be nice and have quiet streets, but maybe someone here can weigh in on Hamilton Heights.

Do not pay 2,000 or live in Hamilton Heights. Dozo is in lower Manhattan. Live in Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, or Boerum Hill. You will be able to find a 1br for around 1600 if you look. It's a very quick commute and a much nicer place to live.

Inglewood is bad but rumor has it, it is up and coming. I would never live there nor would I ever pay 2000 a month to live in the city. I actually live (and raised) on Staten Island, NY. I pay 950 a month for a 3 bedroom apartment by the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry is free, for now
, and takes 25 minutes to get to the downtown/wall street area. My suggestion would be to look at apartments on Staten Island close to the ferry and save some money. The ferry is 24/7 so you can still experiance nyc night life if you wanted to and its pretty safe.
Staten Island is not a social hub but it does have bars and nightclubs, just not like the city.
Im actually moving to NC because I am over New York LOL. I will probably get homesick but for now I need a change.
