Who's gonna be WUSTLin' this fall? (not me :O)

I'm thinking with 90% certainty that I will be joining you in St. Louis next year. I'm going to go check out the school on the March 25th ASD.

Good chance I'll end up at WUSTL. Anyone go to the admitted student's day? What goes on?

I'm considering it.

Pretty sure I will be attending WUSTL in the fall. I'll be at 3/25 ASD.

Do we have a c/o 2014? I feel like our thread last year was like dozens of pages long at this point.

Not going to ASD or ASW or whatever the heck it's called, but I might go down and visit in April or May. Especially if the Cubs are in town.

You don't think that me bringing all my Cub fervor to St. Louis would be a bad idea, do you?

I am 98% in.

I put my deposit down this afternoon. Unless something drops from the sky at one of these other schools I'm waiting on, I'm pretty sure this is where I'm headed.

Just put down my deposit. I'm going to ride out some waitlists but at this point its looking like Ill be a...a....does Washu have a mascot?...next year.

After visiting this week and feeling very comfortable there I'm 95% certain I'll be attending this fall.
Now how do I manage to actually do work at work for the next 4 months!

I saw the 'mascot' comment and I was like, "Hmm... DO they have a mascot or are they just *that* nerdy that they don't even need one?"

I was thinking maybe the "studious salamanders" or "The fighting lab coats" but no...

The Battling Bear may be the mascot, but the nickname is just Bears. I've only heard the teams referred to as the "Washington University Bears."

And the bookstore has some cool gear without the mascot, like hats and law school shirts and stuff like that.

Romo, while your practical advice and and first-hand reporting about Wash. U is admirable, your "reason" is unnecessary in this case.

They can call themselves the "Washington University Will Smiths" if they want (cuz he's cool, right?) but no matter what- they're still the "Battling Bears."

Apparently they were the "Pikers," then it turns out that wasn't cool, so they changed to the "Bears." Yes, just "Bears." However, at the end of the article, they again refer to the "Battling" Bear, which begs the question: "where the heck is the 'battling' part coming from?" I could see if maybe the bear itself was doing battle (i.e. against 2 smaller, handicapped bears) and it was a literal description, but the bear appears to just have his "mean face" on and a sailor cap.

Yeah, a sailor cap. WTF? Romo- quick check: how much "sailing" do you currently participate in while in St. Louis? ... none? Didn't think so.

I think the only thing *this* bear is battling is a case of identity crisis.

Maybe I need to go to WUSTL just to straighten this whole mascot thing out.

Joining the club, put my deposit down this week. Unless I magically get off the hold list at Columbia/HLS, I'll be heading home to the STL next year.
