Re: Northwestern Law Class of 2014
Ok. so after round 1 I got First Amendment (DeSanto), Law and Social Change (Rubinowitz), and Torts II (Shapo). Got credit denied for 14th amendment (Hughes), Environmental Law (Barsa), and Employment Discrimination (Provenzano).
Suggestions?
I think I'm definitely keeping First Amendment. Up in the air on what to do with the other one

Re: Northwestern Law Class of 2014
Yeah I got denied because I got my top 3 first and you can't get more than 17 hours worth of classes. So two doctrinal + CLR = 8 hours. Getting the top 3 electives = 9 hours. So it auto-denied me from the other 3 I bid on.Eugenie Danglars wrote:Wait...Employment Discrimination went for 1 point...Flips88 wrote:Ok. so after round 1 I got First Amendment (DeSanto), Law and Social Change (Rubinowitz), and Torts II (Shapo). This was not at all clearly conveyed by the administrators. I was under the impression I could secure spots in classes now only to drop them later. Lameness totally screwed up my bidding strategy.Flips88 wrote:Yeah I got denied because I got my top 3 first and you can't get more than 17 hours worth of classes. So two doctrinal + CLR = 8 hours. I agree that this was not really conveyed at all by the administration. But if a class only went for 1 point can't you just pick it up during round 2 very easily?bdubs wrote:This was not at all clearly conveyed by the administrators. Yeah, provided that the mix of points allocated doesn't change a whole lot from R1 to R2.bk187 wrote:I agree that this was not really conveyed at all by the administration. Re: Northwestern Law Class of 2014
I think that made it pretty clear. Why do you need to bid on six classes anyway? You can only take two, and I personally assure you that Employment Discrimination isn't going to fill up in case you want to change your mind totally and pick it up in round two.Maximum Number of Bids and Credits:
You may submit bids for up to 10 classes. The bidding system will stop placing you in classes or on wait lists when to do so would give you more than 17 semester hours of credit. Seventeen credits is the ABA maximum. If you are denied a class because you have exceeded the 17 credit limit, you will see the message “CRED”.

Re: Northwestern Law Class of 2014
I'm assuming its not a big deal, but do any of the 2Ls know if it is "bad" to only take 13.5 hrs? Corporations is only 2.5 and that plus having a class called "narrative structures" (to fulfill the perspective requirement) could possibly come off as a weak-sounding schedule. Does that at all matter OCI wise or is it all about GPA?

Re: Northwestern Law Class of 2014
It doesn't matter other than the fact that you will have to make up 0.5 credits at some point in the next two years. Hell, I am taking 12 credits right now so I have to make up two credits over the next three semesters. Firms care about GPA. You will probably get more questions about what classes you are taking 1st semester of 2L than about the decision to take certain electives 1L year.splitmuch wrote:I'm assuming its not a big deal, but do any of the 2Ls know if it is "bad" to only take 13.5 hrs? However, if you're interested in PI/gov, they might care a little more. For example, government places loved that I had taken State & Local Govt, and a few PI orgs specifically asked about 1st Amendment.

Any feedback on whether interviewers for litigation would prefer evidence or civ pro II?
