Our next memo will be a rewrite that includes the other 2 elements, questions presented, and conclusion.
Ours is just the discussion section, so a thesis paragraph, the 2 elements in question, and a conclusion. Memo 2 adds question presented, fact section, and applicable statute along with a more in depth conclusion.
So a comparable amount of stuff but 600 words more? Jealous.
Basically. I think we lucked out with the length.

Ours is entirely the same as flips...I tried going into the year telling myself that I wasn't going to complain about CLR, but the word limits are misery...then all the feedback most my section received on the ungraded memo told us to expand on our reasoning. I think I came in at 1398 for this one.

One upped.

Also I just did the practice civ pro mid term. I didn't do completely awful and I think I'd do better with a synthesized outline instead of control+f-ing through my notes and briefs. The sample answer read like one of his lectures to me though. Is that the kind of writing style we're supposed to go with?

In Dodier's we had to write a discussion section with a limit of eight pages. I had to do a good amount of cutting and I ended up combining a lot of sentences. We were not told how many elements there were supposed to be. I think I ended up having four TREACs. I want a good grade, damn it, because CLR is the only class where I'll have grades until January or February and I'll be a lot happier in law school throughout this semester knowing I'm sitting on good grades rather than bad grades.

To the person who already had CLR, what makes you so sure that your professor actually used a B curve? Did it actually say that in the syllabus? Did you get a low grade and then sort of gather enough information to decide that the curve was a B? Our syllabus just says there's no curve and she'll just grade based on how good your paper is.

Dodier curved to a B+ and is pretty much in line with the mandatory curve (even though she doesn't have to) except that she didn't really hand out A+'s (much, if at all).

seems to me that when the median grade is barely passing, something has gone wrong

This is almost my entire platform. I plan on supplementing it by ending graded Civ Pro midterms.

We supposedly get CLR grades tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.
For people with a 1400 word limit were you still told to expand more? Because that's kind of BS.

I was told to expand on cases more and to do so at the expense of not talking about every case (which seemed at odd with the comment my prof gave in class saying we should cover all the cases).

Nice. That seems a bit more doable. Ours is 2600.

Also, Lexis can take it's half-assed, mostly incorrect Interactive Citation Workshop and shove it...that shit is awful.
