Need to make a decision in a couple of days, any opinion appreciated:

Currently reside in Bay Area, and work full time remotely.
1L Transfer Student.
Get accepted to GW Law part-time and Santa Clara Law part-time.
Hope to practice in Bay Area due to family reason.

If you want to practice in California, this seems like a no-brainer.

But where are you currently going? What's your scholarship situation? Do you have a job lined up at your current place of employment for after graduation?

Reading between the lines, I’m going to assume you are working part-time doing patent prosecution and that your firm is (hopefully) picking up the tuition bill.

If you were trying to switch firms after graduating, GW will give you better odds of landing a job with a DC firm; and Santa Clara would give you better odds with California firms. DC firms have a reputation for doing slightly more PTAB and appellate work, while California firms do more general portfolio/deal work for tech companies... but the actual differences between them are pretty marginal.

Assuming your plan is to do patent work in the future (particularly prosecution/licensing style work), the school rankings don’t really matter. It really comes down to where you want to live and set down roots, and SC would seem to be the clear choice.
