Transfer Out? & Class Rank?

Since our school doesn't have a class rank, except for a top 1-15% award, does anyone know what's the average/majority GPA for a T25? (in the D.C. area) law school to transfer to HLS? The dataset from the 2012 post seems to lack info about most recent transfers

Is there an estimated class rank, say, for a 4.00, 3.90, and 3.80? I think our school median is about 3.2x. Thanks a lot!

Assuming you're at GW, I would guess that your success at transferring to HLS is going to depend on your GPA as compared to HLS's transfer range (3.89, 3.95, 4.02). HLS takes roughly half its transfers from schools ranked above GW (plus GW) and half from schools ranked below GW, so you shouldn't expect to get in if your GPA is below their interquartile range. I would assume chances aren't great if your GPA doesn't start with 3.9 (or 4). If you are in the 3.9+ range, though, you have a decent shot.

thanks for the info. I wasn't sure how many ppl in the T25 range is above 4.02 (I'm slightly below that by ~0.02) - and how school ranking sits in the 25%, 50%, and 75% GPA distribution

We can't know that for sure from the information that's publicly available through ABA 509 forms. Generally, people assume that schools accepting transfers are slightly less selective re: grades from higher-ranked schools, but we don't know that for sure. I think you have a good shot at HLS with a 4.0 at GW, regardless of your precise rank (I assume somewhere in the top 10 students).
