I started applying after 1st semester to in-house and firms. I interviewed at one in-house and one firm. Did mock interviews so I was ready for any question. I have a few degrees, had a different career beforehand, and I am a minority. Don't know if any of these factors played in my favor, but they probably did not hurt me.
