Is it possible to sit for the patent bar without having an undergraduate degree in engineering?

Yes, it's possible as long as you have the requisite coursework that the USPTO considers as qualifying education. So if you have 40 credits in math, science, and engineering that qualifies, you can sit for the patent bar. But this also assumes the classes you took are qualifying, and there are plenty of classes that you might think would count but the USPTO does not recognize.
