What are chances to get into GULC EA? 3.9 GPA, school ranked in the low-100s. No ranking until end of first year, but must be close to top.
Also, Vandy EA chances?
And is it even worth it to try UChi or is there no way from a tier 3?

Hi there,

I have just started looking into similar options. The ABA 509 reports have both 1L transfer GPA's and schools that transfers came from the past few year.

http://abarequireddisclosures.org/

GULC:
1L GPA
75% = 3.76
50% = 3.63
25% = 3.54

Some schools:
American
Hastings
John Marshall
U of San Francisco
Seattle University

Take a look at the Aba dislcosures site listed above. That will give you a better idea. With 3.9, I'd take a stab at Chicago. May not get in, but if you maintain, you'll almost certainly get in GULC during the regular transfer window.

This GPA isn't very helpful though, because schools have substantially different curves.

Probably a good chance to get into GULC EA, but keep in mind the deposits and the fact that if you increase your grades/maintain them you could have a shot at CCN. Super strong chance for Vandy EA... but why bother?

True, but what other info is there to go off of?

ETA: And 3.9 is going to be near the top of the class at just about any school. Question then is whether the school is willing to accept someone from OP's school.

If you have the money such that the seat deposits won't hurt you, GULC EA is probably a decent idea here, since it isn't binding. It ensures a landing spot if your spring grades don't maintain and you fall out of contention for CCN. I would absolutely try for Chicago as well. It's a long shot (ED), but all it costs you is an application fee.

They (GULC) will milk a few K out of you on deposits though.

Very good. But study your ass off, maintain those grades, and you'll be in at much better schools.

Good shot for EA
