GMU Phone Interview for Transfer

Hey guys,

So I applied to GMU (among other schools) looking to transfer using the early decision program. Today, I received an email telling me that I was selected to take part in a phone interview.

I'm not sure whether this is a good or bad thing. I suppose it's good that they have chosen me to interview, but I'm not sure whether other students (possibly with better credentials) are able to forgo the interview altogether.

Also, I'm curious as to what I'll be asked during the interview. Has anyone taken part in an interview for this (or any) school as a transfer? What are the types of questions they may ask?

Thank you in advance for any guidance. I can divulge more information if needed.

I had one of these last year. I was admitted about a week after the phone interview. Questions were pretty basic, regarding resumé, ties to area, grades, etc.

Much appreciated! I think I'm worrying a bit too much. I had a feeling that the questions are going to be general (why GMU?) and possibly specific in some parts regarding my transcript and resume.

From what I remember, mine was very laid back. I even received a scholarship for transfer as well, but chose to pursue a different school instead for IP work.

May I ask which school you chose to transfer to for IP? That is currently my main field of interest.

I actually chose SMU Dedman school of law in Dallas. It was mainly the new patent office and market hold SMU has over jobs in this area which made me choose it over GMU. I am doing a summer associate position at a large firm in Dallas for patent work this summer, so it seems like it was the right choice for me. As I had very little ties to the DC area, I thought that job options for me may not be as high going to GMU, especially with no ties to the area in the legal field. You can PM me if you have any other questions.
