Accepted to Michigan! I think. Got an 'offer follow up' email but no actual offer. Also access to admitted students page. TT top 10%, STEM undergrad.

My grades finally came out. 3.82 GPA at 70s school. No ranking yet but I am pretty sure that's top 5% given historical norms, at least top 10.

Congrats Tala. If you don't mind, what were your stats?

3.6 GPA, top 15 at a mid 40's T1. Very challenging year personally (explained in addendum) and missed a lot of classes, otherwise it would have probably been higher.

Very strong softs and work experience.

I think so. Still have apps out at U. Chicago and NYU though so we'll see. I'm also not thrilled that Michigan's EIW overlaps with patent law interview program.

I would email them and specifically flag that you made law review. If you want to also attach your resume with it added, I think that's ok, too.

"I am writing to share an update to my application. This morning the XYZ Law Review offered me a position as a Staff Writer/Editor. [Attached please find my revised resume reflecting this update.]" (and then include it under "Honors" for your current law school entry on your resume)

"Thank you for your consideration of my application and I wish you a pleasant week.

"Best,

If you can find a non-annoying way of saying that it's the result of your top grades or competition score, by all means go for it. Basically you're trying to show the school that you're top performing and competitive. You could also indicate your interest in being on law review or a journal at their school too.

Whatever you say, I would keep it short and sweet.

Would this apply to secondary journals if getting one required doing the writing competition as opposed to just applying like some schools?

Berkeley: Submitted 6/14 Under review 6/17. In via call 6/20. Third time is a charm!
I was ready to submit NU but missed the deadline. Good thing because I would have wasted $135.
Did not submit NYU or UCLA.

Would this apply to secondary journals if getting one required doing the writing competition as opposed to just applying like some schools?

I don't know. I know at some schools, some secondary journals are competitive, too. Some people also do choose to just compete for secondary journals or rank a secondary journal higher than law review in their competition. I think being on a journal is generally prestigious and demonstrates competitiveness...but at the same time, I don't think it would have the same reception as law review. I don't know if it may send the message "I didn't get law review." Others have thoughts on this?

What's the harm in sending an update? For one, it signifies you achieved something, and two, it shows you are not a dead beat. It sends the message "I was invited on to a journal." Some admissions people might ask "why not law review," but it depends on (1) where you are transferring from and (2) where are you looking to transfer to. HLS might be a bit snobby, but would a T30? My guess is no.

I got an email saying that all my information was received on Wednesday. Found out I got admitted today!

Question: If I've been complete for like 3 weeks at super reach school and haven't heard anything back, would it be a good idea to send a LOCI?

Which school? Only some transfer schools do rolling admissions.

If they haven't sent out admits yet, don't sweat it.
