Well the only piece of advice I can offer definitively is that you should at least apply even if you aren't going to transfer. You'll need it to either leverage scholly or for full admission. I wouldn't bother with GT ED though.

Your odds are good but you never know until you fire off the applications. However, depending on where you are geographically, where you want to practice, how your school places, any mitigating cost considerations (spouse/family paying for living expenses), etc. it's hard to give opinions much less opinions based on just your GPA.

If you want to go to any of the schools that have an early decision program (in particular UChi or Gtown), then I think your grades are good enough to justify the cost of those applications.

It is far too early to speculate as to what your options are, overall, considering you only have one set of grades. We don't know how you'll do this second semester and speculating is a waste of time. You can speculate all day long by looking at past threads and you'd obtain the same amount of useful advice as from the rest of TLS, that is - pure guessing.

Congrats on doing so well 1st semester. Look at the 509 disclosure forms to see what schools took a significant amt of transfer students and their GPAs and former schools.

http://www.abarequireddisclosures.org/

For example, Georgetown has a class composed of a lot of transfers and took people with 50% 1L GPA of 3.66. Plus, they took a lot of transfers from lower ranked schools (like Cooley- LOL).

If you keep your GPA up, looks like you may have a good chance.

There are downsides: Chicago is binding, so only do that if you're sure you have no shot at H or don't want CN. GULC is not binding, but requires about $1800 to hold your spot by the time you finally hear from schools requiring two semesters of grades.

How low into the t2?
