Worth the transfer? 25-30 school range to Michigan?

Strong Michigan ties and a 1L SA in Michigan.
It cuts both ways, I'd like to start my career in Michigan, as my family and partner are here. But given that I already have the 1L SA and (probably) an offer at the MI firm (I got a great performance review) being away hasn't seemed to make a difference.
I'd be giving up 23K in scholarships/yr, but COL at my current school is higher.
Worth it for the T14 degree? Thoughts?

I would say so. It sounds like you want to practice in Michigan and that Michigan degree will open up more doors for you down the road (most likely). Plus, if something happens with your 1L SA not coming through for you, it'd be better to have that Michigan degree as a backup.
You do lose some scholarship money, though. That sucks.

I would agree with everything jphiggo said about the degree and your 1L SA possibly not working out. I saw that happen to some of my friends.
At the very least, see if you can use Michigan's acceptance to negotiate a better scholarship with your current school. If not, that $23k difference might be largely consumed by cost of living. If the difference in total cost is negligible, then the decision seems easier for you. Note that I assume there is not much difference between tuition at the two schools.

Doesn't seem worth it given the non school stuff you have going on. If it were me I'd stay. You never know what can happen grade wise at the new school.

I think OP is saying family and SO are in Michigan.
OP, so what would the debt difference be? If we are talking about $40k, I think it is definitely worth moving, especially if the 1L SA doesn't work out

for ~$40k, transferring is a no-brainer.

You do know that OP would get a 2L SA before any new grades right? And these new grades don't matter generally once you're hired.
ETA: I would definitely transfer considering you haven't gotten a 2L offer yet from your 1L firm, and like others said, it could fall through.

Meh, either way is fine. You've already won the law school game, so you can't really go wrong by transferring or not. If it were me, I'd probably stay to save the negligible money, but I could see the draw of going back home and getting that T14 degree.

It makes sense for you to transfer to Michigan. However, I would literally do the math and see the actual difference in cost between current-school and UMich. After, ask yourself if it is personally worth it to you.
