Worth it to Transfer?

MVPDB, top 20%, no LR, but would have secondary. Minimal scholarship at current school.

Any shot at transferring up/getting acceptance to leverage money from current school? Want BigLaw and COA clerkship.

Really depends upon which of the 5 listed law schools you're currently attending & where geographically you would like to live & work after law school.

You have a shot at transferring up, but most schools don't negotiate. And why would you leave if you're top 20% at MVPDB? You're biglaw secure, and while you'd want your grades to be higher for a clerkship, why leave behind the profs you've already made relationships with? You'd also be throwing away your grades as well fwiw.

May be worthwhile to move to Columbia from Michigan if targeting NYC biglaw. Not worth transferring from Duke, Penn or Virginia without more info. suggesting otherwise. And you're not at Berkeley so not worth discussing.

Sorry about the lack of information. I am at MVD to narrow it down. 3.55-3.6

Scott - great points. My hesitation is that the profs I would ask for transfer LORs are the same ones I would be asking for clerkship LORs.

Canadian - I'm targeting NY and CHI BigLaw with a few DC. I would take COA clerkship anywhere.

My thought was to attempt to transfer to get more scholarship from current school and possibility (albeit small) of LR at new school.

Am I competitive for COA clerkships in 2/7/9?

Thanks to you both!
