How to tell friends you're leaving

Any advice on how to approach this? It just seems like one big uncomfortable situation.

Context? Have you never moved away from a place before?Anonymous User wrote:Any advice on how to approach this? It just seems like one big uncomfortable situation.
This is the transfer thread, so the context is telling your 1L friends that you're leaving. It's definitely a little awkward because not only are you telling people you've become very close to that you won't be around anymore, but also because you feel like you're implying that the school that they'll be graduating from isn't good enough for you, even though that's likely not true.stasg wrote:Context? The 1L class president at my school transferred out, and he e-mailed basically everyone in our class he'd ever spoken to and told them and said something about how it wasn't the people or the school, just a choice he was making based on his personal goals, and he would miss us all. He was a really nice guy so I kind of appreciated the gesture, but I would still probably not suggest doing that.
