My goal is big law. I have two federal internships with judges. I don't really have contacts besides Cornell Alumni (went to Cornell for undergrad).BasilHallward wrote:I was a few seconds too late to see your response. That's killer that you got into UCLA. You will be paying full freight I assume. Do you have contacts in LA? What are your goals? What markets do you want to pinpoint?
Also you should check whether these schools have lottery or pre-select OCIs. WUSTL for instance is 100% pre-select and it seems like that totally keeps transfers out of the running. If you're going to make the jump you're going to want to at least get lottery interviews, even if your chances in general at landing biglaw are still slim.hoos89 wrote:I'm not sure transferring to UCLA, Vandy, etc. is going to get you big law. You might just end up in more debt.
Is there any go-to resource to figure that out, or do you just have to ask?scottidsntknow wrote:Also you should check whether these schools have lottery or pre-select OCIs.hoos89 wrote:I'm not sure transferring to UCLA, Vandy, etc. is going to get you big law. You might just end up in more debt.
UCLA is 30% pre-select and 70% lotteryex_nunc wrote:Is there any go-to resource to figure that out, or do you just have to ask?scottidsntknow wrote:Also you should check whether these schools have lottery or pre-select OCIs.hoos89 wrote:I'm not sure transferring to UCLA, Vandy, etc. is going to get you big law. I mean, look at the school's website, and if you can't find it contact the school.ex_nunc wrote:Is there any go-to resource to figure that out, or do you just have to ask?scottidsntknow wrote:Also you should check whether these schools have lottery or pre-select OCIs.hoos89 wrote:I'm not sure transferring to UCLA, Vandy, etc. is going to get you big law. UT is the opposite. 70% pre-select and 30% lottery (might be 67/33, but you get the point).transferror wrote:

I think GULC is part pre-select iirc but too lazy to look up.BVest wrote:UT is the opposite. 70% pre-select and 30% lottery (might be 67/33, but you get the point).transferror wrote:

I think I read on here somewhere that all the T14s are lottery with one or two that also have some pre-select slots in addition.
