What is this Education information section?

What are some examples of what they're looking for?

I wrote about my undergrad thesis and 1L LRW papers.

Why do you all want to transfer out of Harvard ?

But since everyone applying has to write the 1L papers, isn't it useless to talk about?

Also we couldn't get any feedback to revise our 1L papers, so I guess I'll just stick to my UG thesis.

How are you guys going about the UG certification? Email to registrar who will then mail to HLS directly? It seems the other option would be to have them put the sealed envelop in another envelope (lol) to send back to you to then forward to HLS. Which, based on their website, it seems like that's what H wants you to do.

All UGs are different, for instance my registrar wasn't the office that sent dean's certificates. It was my college's dean office (separate from the University-wide registrar office) that sends dean's certs.

I actually just recommend calling your UG college's dean's office and ask how to go about getting a Dean's Certification for Law School--it's highly, highly likely that whomever answers can put you in touch with someone that knows the answer.

For me, I just had to email them the Dean's Certificate (after I filled out the student portion), then they finished the rest and mailed it to HLS.

I'd say top 5% from a T20 would give a reasonable shot; maybe top 10% would be "not a hail mary" but it's certainly no guarantee

Transfer admissions are mostly formulaic but still quite random; there are anecdotes of people who were outside of the top 10% at T1 schools getting HYS; simultaneously I have anecdotes of people who were IN the top 10% at MVP who struck out at each one of HYS for transfer admissions

it just depends whether you are willing to put in the effort for apps (PS, recs, paying the $) so that you don't have to wonder "what if"

The UCLA/Vandy admits (3 total) in the last transfer cycle were top 5%.

If you're in the top 10% at any T1 school, or top 5% at any T2, I think Harvards worth an application. Definitely worth carpeting t14 from the top down and see where you end up. This was the advice I received from a person top 10% at a t50-60 school who ended up at Penn.

75% of matriculation had above 3.83, so it really depends on how you define Hail Mary. (I'm assuming your GPA is around there since I saw what school you go to in another thread). However, an absolute GPA metric really isn't going to be dispositive. It's more of a necessary condition than sufficient.

Don't you have to have a letter of recommendation from a law school professor as well. I heard some law school professors will not give LORs to anyone who is trying to transfer out to another law school.

I've heard different stories. Almost all the ones about professors being difficult have been on TLS. In my personal experience it was extremely easy to get the recommendations because I think WUStL professors view it as a given that many of the top students will try to improve their position in any way possible.

checking in as well! the professors i've talked to about letters of recommendation have been very willing to write them.

I have seen similar results. I have spoke to 3 professors. All were willing to share advice (and encouragement) and were willing to write letters. Don't be afraid to reach out and ask, but give them plenty of heads up notice because they are busy. I prepared a packet containing my original PS and a resume that all of them appreciated.

Ok thanks for that. That is what I thought would be a problem. I do appreciate the clarification.

I have only ever heard of professors categorically refusing to give recommendations at true TTTs. Y'all should be fine.
