I was in the On-Topics and just noticed that the new 2014 ABA 509 forms include awesome new data for future transfer students. Are you interested in knowing what GPAs and schools transfer into your target school? Look no further, that is now included in the ABA required disclosures. Below are the T14s that have already posted their newest forms.

Huh, didn't know that if <5, you didn't have to provide transfer data.

Yep. On the appendix it says: (for schools matriculating more than 5 transfer students)

So does everyone above median at HasTTTings transfer out?

Interesting for the list of 1L schools, but the 1L gpa is pretty useless unless you go through and figure out the weighted medians and top x percentages from the origin schools.

By my count, 17 people transferred out of Cornell to other T14s. That seems really high given their relatively small class size.

I wonder how they account for schools that don't calculate or publish GPAs.

What? These are the GPAs of 1Ls. If there are schools that don't give grades, then they're too TTT to transfer into the T12.

My guess is he's asking about 1Ls from Boalt and UChi who transfer to HYS.

Yes. And schools that don't calculate or publish GPAs, like Penn. You get grades but no GPA.

I thought the Boalt grading scale was smilies and could be converted into letter grades. (Three smilies equals a B, three smilies and a 'good job!' sticker was an A).
At UChi they give vials containing the tears the homeless. Three vials equals a B, three vials and a copy of The Wealth of Nations equates to an A. Three vials, the book, and a sandwich taken from the hands of a homeless person at a soup kitchen is their version of a Cali/book award.

Heh. Somehow I doubt this is ABA best practice.

You overestimate the ABA's competency. Haha

you get a GPA from UChi, it's just not on the standard 4.0 scale or whatever. But in cases like that i'm guessing they just convert the GPA's into standard scale or they just leave them out

Historically that is the amount that usually transfer out. The more interesting piece is that they didn't get many to transfer in. IIRC last year 12 transferred in, 17 out...

Does anyone know what it means when under a school's JD Attrition tab, it shows 1st year transfers? For example, UChi apparently had two people 'transfer' during first year. It seems that people who transfer between their 1L and 2L years are ordinarily considered to be '2nd years' in this tab.

I can't speak for the two UChi students of whom you speak, but there are a number of T/TT schools that accept 1L transfers in december/January.
