Has anyone ever heard of a top 5%er from a Tier 3 use transfer acceptance as leverage and successfully have a tier 3 remove their stips? I have a full ride--and would really consider staying due to recent job connection ive mad--but hey--sh*t happens and I dont want to be facing debt.

Ever heard of this?

Why not just say that to the dean of students (or head of student aid)? The worst they can do is say "no." Right?

What kind of stipulation is it? I only ask because if its something like you must be in the top half of the class to keep the scholarship, its pretty hard to imagine that a person in the top 5% would drop that much to ever risk losing it. But I guess if it was more like top 25% it might be worth pursuing, definitely won't hurt to ask.

Top 40%, which I will work hard to assure I never fall below. But like I said you never know.

If you're top 5%, they don't have much reason to deny you (outside of an institutional/bureaucratic one). The likelihood of you falling below 40% is very low.

At the same time, I don't see your acceptance in hand as being of great value in making such a request for the same reason... you're not likely to drop below 40%, so they'll figure you're either going to transfer or not, and it doesn't matter much what they do.

Without knowing the transfer school I'm pretty sure this is terrible advice for someone with a full scholarship and top grades.

I appreciate all advice. As I said I have a really solid connection now which will likely lead to a full time job- so debt is my biggest concern right now

OP should ttTtTtttTTransfer regardless. Top grades at a regional T3 is nothing compared to what he or she could attain from a T13.
