Transferring Down

What grades do you need to transfer down? Can I be below median/bottom third at a t20 and get into a school ranked 30-40?

Yeah you shouldn't do that. You don't know your grades yet, for one. Second, you likely kill whatever chance you have of getting a job at a firm. Third, you lose whatever scholarships you're getting.

Tough it out. It's just two more years. Work both summers back home.

It could be a good idea if you figure out how to take exam, because transferring gives you a clean slate, so you can make, say top 5%, in your 2L year at your new school and apply for firm job in your 3L.
