Transfer to UCLA from t4

Hey. I'm starting at Pace in NY in the Fall and I'm planning on transferring to UCLA after the first year. I'm also going to apply to USC and Loyola. Do you think I have a chance at getting in if I do well both semesters? Where do I need to be ranked? I know they usually accept students from southwestern and I think pace is equally ranked. Do the t3/t4 schools in LA usually have an advantage? I think Pace is a tier 3. Does anyone know for sure? Or does that even make a difference.

You should not do this. You will need to be top 5-10% of your class to do this. Even if you do succeed, the debt/value proposition of transferring to UCLA is very very bad.

You should withdraw, retake, and reapply. If your UGPA is low enough that only T3s are available to you, this isn't for you.

Sorry, but this is the hard truth. Although some people can bootstrap it and make it, the other 95% necessarily don't. 5% odds at a bad outcome is not a gamble you should take.

My 146 LSAT score is what killed me. My GPA was 3.4. I still have two weeks to withdraw. You're saying it's smarter to withdraw and retake the LSAT and try to get into UCLA as a 1L.

UCLA at sticker is not worth it, and that's what you would be looking at given the slight chance you're in the top 20% that would allow you to transfer. It's never a good idea to go to a school as a 1L planning to transfer. What the previous poster said is absolutely correct. Withdraw, study for the very learnable LSAT, get a 170 and go to UCLA with $$. Law school will be there in a year, trust me.

All this, emphatically do not go to law school this year. Get an LSAT tutor, take a course, pull your score up to the high 160s or 170s, enjoy UCLA/USC admittance and scholarships.

Yes. You will do yourself the biggest possible favor by retaking. You can do so much better.

Confidence is what makes a success person. Just want to transfer, and then take it.

Ok thanks everyone. I'm going to just get a tutor and retake it in December.
