Let me help you out here. I was at coastal last year and transferred to Emory. I am trying to return to FL after graduation and have spoken to many firms and attorney's in the state. This is what I have been told (which I knew before I transferred).
"The best decision you could have made was leaving 'that school'"
Idk if you have researched your employment at graduation numbers from your two choices but: Coastal - under 20% FSU - 35%?
FSU is not a tier 1 school, they are ranked 48th. If you are top of the class I would of considered transferring to the best school you can get into, but at the very least FSU.
It does not matter how much Coastal is offering you to stay, gtfo there. Unless you plan on volunteering your time after graduation or working gov (at best).

Actually FSU is a tier one and those employment figures are bogus. FS ranks 22nd I'm terms of employment

Maybe I'm misreading what you wrote but I'm not sure where you're getting 35% employment from FSU. LST has them at almost 70%.

Was just on the ABA website. FSU's class of 2013 has a 72% employment rate for graduates employed in bar required jobs. Emory has an 85% rate. Not really thinking Emory is worth more than double the tuition dollars because 13% more of it's graduates procured jobs than FSU. Perhaps for a more reasonable marginal cost emory would be worthwhile, but not for a price tag that is 2.5 times that of FSU at a whopping 30,000k per year marginal cost

If you must go to a law school in FL--- UF, FSU, or bust. You're wasting your time otherwise.

Could you answer my question please? What is your source on FSU being ranked 22 on employment?
TLS is an amazing resource for those of us who know little about the LSAT, law school, and the legal profession. If you are spreading false statistics on this site, you are hurting TLS and all it stands for.
What is your source?

Uh, USNW ranks Florida State Law as the nations 23rd best in terms of job placement for the class of 2011 and number one in Florida.

I imagine it hasn't changed much since 2011 because Florida states ranking has actually improved since then. I can't look at the current rank for employment because I would have to pay for a subscription to USNW for that.

FSU is a good state school ... Coastal sucks. Moreover, FSU > Emory (if no scholarship from Emory). Not the most difficult equation
The UF vs. FSU debate is more difficult. However, .02, FSU = Public sector, whereas UF = Private sector

Assuming without deciding its true, why would class of 2011 stats matter?

Uhm... If you want the link just go to the Fsu law admissions page and click on the view book. They advertise the 23rd placenta by USNW.

I am sure the 2011 rank is highly indicative of current ranks since it rose in the larger rankings since then

From that viewbook:
Our job placement record is truly remarkable. US News and World Report (2013) rates Florida State the nation's 23rd best law school, and Florida's best, in terms of the percentage of graduates employed nine months after graduation in full-time, long-term, Bar-admission-required or J.D.-preferred jobs.
You posted straight out of the viewbook. Don't be a shill.
You are from a TTTT and were trying to transfer to Florida a few posts ago, and now you're asking for reassurance that transferring to a better Florida school is the right decision. Are you OP, by chance?

I'm not OP and I was looking at several schools including FSU, UF,Emory, and Georgetown. I seriously doubt FSU Law would make an affirmative misrepresentation of a material fact like job placement ranking within their view book. You are obviously a 0L being such that you have no knowledge of the law and as such you have zero clout on the tranfer forum. Talk to me when you're top of your class. And if you are a 2L then it's very unusual that you would presuppose a LAW school would make an affirmative misrepresentation of material fact to induce students to attend. That is called FRAUD. I'm sure you will now point me to the lawsuits for schools alleged misleading employment numbers, but those were cases of omission and incomplete information as opposed to an affirmative misrepresentation of fact. One is fraud the other isn't. I can't imagine a law school like FSU exposing itself to liability for fraud. As such, I think the view book is a pretty reliable source and I'm not sure what your gripe is with posting directly out of it
