Does it make sense? T20 to Cornell.

Here's the basics:
Looking to get back to NY for personal reasons (family member is ill) and my target market has always been NY. Seeking BigLaw.
Currently:
-attend a T20, obviously non-T14.
-rank in the top 12-15% but odds say I will not get LR.
-school places okay in northeast- around 10%.
-little scholarship $ and school does not negotiate
I understand that transferring to Cornell means I will not be able to participate in their OCI and will have to rely on mass mailing to land a biglaw summer associate position.
My biggest fear is that I will strike out at my school's NY Regional OCI and end up having to accept a summer associate position with a firm that is not in the Northeast.
Does this transfer make sense from the outside? Can anyone weigh-in on their own personal experiences in transferring to Cornell to quell my concerns about losing out on biglaw?
