Top Law Schools

Top 2% at a T2 (70-90) in the west coast and 4.0 undergrad GPA. Do I stand any chance at HLS? The reason I ask is I have other deadlines coming up and I don't want to hold out too high of hopes or wait too long if I don't have a chance p.

Unless there is something extraordinary about you, then no. Deadlines? Like seat deposits?

Edit: My logic - Harvard tends to accept transfer students who were competitive during the regular admissions cycle. If you had a 4.0 and are at a T2, I assume you had a shitty LSAT.

Yeah I got into two other T14. I had low 160s, but got a full ride at my school which is why I chose it.

Yeah I got into two other T14. I had low 160s, but got a full ride at my school which is why I chose it.

You should get into one of CLS/NYU if you applied. I assume the 2 acceptances are GULC and UMich. Forget GULC, you should have a little more time before a UM deposit. Hold out for CLS/NYU.

I've also heard that "Harvard tends to accept transfer students who were competitive during the regular admissions cycle," but I've also heard that LSAT/UGPA numbers don't really have a neglible impact on transfer applications, even for Harvard. I don't know which statement is closer to the truth. I do know of at least three transfer applicants who were accepted to Harvard with a 160 on the LSAT, as well as one transfer applicant who was accepted to Harvard with a 159 on the LSAT.

2. Even if "Harvard tends to [only] accept transfer students who were competitive during the regular admissions cycle," your 4.0 UGPA is pretty impressive.

3. More importantly, Harvard does occasionally accept students from T2 schools who are in the top 1% or 2% of their class. Last year, e.g., "zor," an applicant from a "NYC T2, top 2%" was one of the first to be admitted to Harvard.

All that to say, you definitely have a chance at Harvard. Maybe not the best chance in the world, but a very decent chance nonetheless.

Thanks for the input. Makes me feel a lot better lol especially since HLS has always been my dream school.

That's tough. I'd deposit at Berkeley and contact Harvard to explain the situation and ask for expedited review.

I'm sure there is a non-zero % chance that you get into Harvard, but it's very low. You need to be a Rhodes/Truman Scholar, for that 4.0 to have been from an elite UG, have a compelling diversity story, something that distinguishes you. Being top 2% from a T2 is like a pre-requisite to being considered, but the rank alone isn't going to get you in the door like it would if you were number 1 in your class at a T20. This isn't to discourage you OP. You killed 1L and acceptance to Berkeley is exceptional, but temper your expectations and don't make a bad decision while holding out for Harvard.
