Dad: I guess I'm trying to console myself more than you. I really thought Harvard would've been your perfect match with (xyz) program. Don't get me wrong. I'm not disappointed in you, I just really wanted you to get in.

that's just how they label it; once you are at "ready to review" that means your app is ready to be reviewed AND that they are reviewing your application

so you would go from "ready to review" to your decision status and this would not mean they simply neglected to review your app
