Worth a Transfer App?

Top 10-ish% at a Midwestern T1, goal is Chicago biglaw, looking at UChicago/NU.

Current situation:
-full scholarship, total COA < $30K
-from Chicago
-decent work exp. in finance (non-IP)

There's a non-zero % I would transfer if accepted, but it's a low %. I would primarily use this as leverage to negotiate with my current school to waive misc. fees.

Is it worth throwing $$ at app fees? Is it worth transferring if accepted?

Unless you would attend the school, don't bother applying. You'll burn $75-100 + time for the app to have a marginal shot at your school waiving misc. fees (which can't be that much anyway). It's not worth the trouble unless you are interested in attending.

I'd try and really nail down whether you'd transfer if accepted. Since you are already on a full ride, there's no real point in applying if you wouldn't go. You'll have to decide at some point, so you might as well do it now!

How does your school place in biglaw? In Chicago?

Current school places about 25-30% in biglaw, a good % being in Chicago.

I know financially it doesn't make much sense to transfer, I just needed some unbiased opinions.

Thanks everyone.
