Touro Student seeking Transfer

Hi everyone!

I am a first year Touro Law Student and I am considering transferring to another school in NY (we all know the reasons why, so cliche answers degrading the law school are not helpful). I did well my first semester I have a 3.8 GPA, and received two CALI Awards. I have a generous scholarship at Touro (which will be increased over the summer if i keep my GPA) and I have received many job offers for the summer. Having said all of that, I know that Touro carries a stigma of being the worst law school in NY and Im not sure whether I want to be affiliated with such a name. However, employers seem to not care so much that I go to Touro, they seem impressed at my grades and really like me during my interviews.

Anyway, what I wanted was some input and insight to maybe where I could possibly get into, maybe even a fellow touro student who transferred before, and general advice.

All input is greatly appreciated! :D

What are your employment goals and is it necessary that you stay in the NY area?

I want to do work in a DA's office. It is not necessary that I stay in NY, I am also considering to apply to GWU and GULC

Why are you giving advice to applicants telling them that Touro is a good option (just lol) if you recognize that it has a terrible reputation and you're hoping to transfer the hell out of there?

If you want to be a DA, you should've just gone to CUNY for damn near free in the first place. Apply to Fordham/Dozo/Brooklyn just so you can negotiate your scholarship, stay top of your class, and show commitment to DA work in your coursework, clinics, summer positions, etc... There's no sense in taking out a shitload of debt to be Jack McCoy on a 50k salary, and commitment to the cause is more important than prestige of school for almost all DA offices.

Oh yeah, and stop giving shitty advice to people considering Touro.

i won't have much debt... touro is pretty much free
shitty advice? that's pretty subjective given these people on TLS cannot see beyond any school besides the one's they attended given the fact that most posters are unemployed and spent the entire day posting on TLS because in all reality this site is just a "DONT ATTEND LAW SCHOOL" site unless you at a T14.

Anyways... thanks for your generic advice that i could've gotten from my dog.

stay at touro if you have such a huge scholly... but you might have a shot at fordham/cardozo maybe even nyu or columbia ... they seem to be taking lots of transfers recently... my friend transferred from touro to nyu back in 09 and he still did well in nyu... maybe you would do well at another school too....
