Hey everybody.

Currently at GULC with a 4.0; if I manage to maintain it through finals do you think it would be possible to transfer to HYS?

It's generally not worth giving up LR in your situation, but whether it's ultimately worth it for you depends on your scholarship situation, your career goals, and other personal factors. For example, I could see transferring to Y being worth it if you want academia/one of those unicorn jobs. HYS in general might also be worth it if you're paying sticker at GULC and your financial situation wouldn't change (or would improve, because of need-based aid) by transferring.

You should have no trouble getting biglaw. Obviously, any firm is open to you, regardless of whether you transfer or not. Whether your odds improve for clerkships is debatable because you'd be giving up relationships with professors (who presumably have some pull because you're already at a T14) and because your school would likely expend its resources trying to hook you up with a good judge.

Depends on the particulars of your situation. As the above poster noted, whether you made law review and what the marginal and total costs of transferring would be are important factors.

I would definitely transfer to Yale.

If I were LR + Fat Scholly at GULC, then I would stay before transferring to H or S

Why? I'd never transfer to Yale if I'm LR plus fat scholly at Georgetown. I'm just not sure what Yale gives that you can't get with a 4.0 from Georgetown. A fed clerkship? You for sure should be able to get that if you keep the grades up. Big law? Ditto.

Why do you think that would not be attainable with a 4.0 at Georgetown but would be attainable as a transfer to Yale with a 4.0 from Georgetown?

This transfer only makes sense if you save money because you get need aid at HYS.
