Touring School Prior to App?

I am at a T2(85-95) looking to transfer. My grades are around top 10% and I have strong ties to the south. In the next few weeks, I will be in the same city as one of my target schools. Is it odd to ask them if I can tour the school and/or discuss a transfer? I imagine it could only help my odds, but I don't know if it's poor form or pre-mature. Has anyone done this before?

it's fine - taking a tour is a great way to get a feel for the school.

Definitely do it. If you are ambitious, try to set up a meeting with the dean of admissions. You can often turn an informational discussion into an interview (in which you convince them how great you are).
