transfer advice top 20-->T14
I am at a top 20 non T14 school, my first semester ranking is about top 20-25% (our school doesn't rank, this is based on past years' data).
My question is what's the chance for me to transfer to a T14 school. Also I have a full ride at my current school, I heard transfers normally don't get any scholarships, so should I stay and graduate without debt or go to a T14 with no money?
Thanks!

Just do spend $150K + interest on T14 prestige.

this is a fair point. at a certain point you are denting your chances because people will think you are the weird transfer and your grades alone at your old school may be questionable for OCI purposes. unless there is a market specific reason, obviously with consideration of increaesd cost, then maybe thats something to look into.

I am the OP. I like my current law school, the professors are great. however, the school doesn't place well in biglaw,also the weather here sucks. I have IP background and I really want biglaw, transfer may increase the chance for that.brotherdarkness wrote:What are your motivations for wanting to transfer? If you're comfortable in the region you're in and have a full-ride scholarship, I would stay put.
But my first question is,can I transfer based on my grades/ranking?

If you maintain your top 20% GPA, then there's probably at least one T14 degree mill who would gladly take your $$$.Anonymous User wrote:I am the OP. +1 on that. Firms are basically gonna look at you as they would anyone else from your 1L school...don't know how much of a bump a t14 transfer would be, and especially bad decision considering the full ride.Jchance wrote:top 25% at T20, IP background is solid for IP positions, even at biglaws, big bonus if background is EE/CS.Anonymous User wrote:I am at a top 20 non T14 school, my first semester ranking is about top 20-25% (our school doesn't rank, this is based on past years' data).
