T1 to GULC or Emory

I am at a school on the cusp of the top 50. It's been steadily rising the past few years. Currently in the 50s so not technically a T1, I know
GPA: 3.34. Based on past classes, this puts me somewhere around top 33% (I'll find out specifically in the next few days). School is curved to a B.
Looking to transfer to possibly GULC or Emory. Both have early action applications.
I'm not super involved as a 1L. I was trying to focus on grades. Not sure if this will hurt me.
Any advice would be appreciated

Emory is probably not worth transferring to unless you really want to work in Atlanta. Even then, probably not.

I do like Atlanta. Would my numbers even give me a shot at Emory?

Top 1/3rd to GULC seems like a huge stretch, but I guess the only thing you stand to lose is an app fee.
I think your best bet is to try and destroy next semester. If you can pull yourself into the top 15-20%, you may have a fighting chance.

Do schools focus a lot on the personal statement? Or is it more grades? The PS has been holding up my apps.

Grades (really class rank, but that's your grades). Personal statement could keep you out. What do you mean the PS is holding up your apps? GULC's app isn't available for another week.

I was going to do Emory and GW. I keep reviewing the PS when I really should just submit it.

Does WUSTL interview all applicants? Does it mean anything?

Emory doesn't do ED, they only allow you to submit the application early.

No ED, that's true. I meant you can apply after one semester. I assumed they would give an answer earlier if you applied earlier.

How it was explained to me wasn't very intuitive. It appears that anyone I've spoken to has been under the impression that it's an ED. I was told that since they operate rolling admissions that the sooner you apply the better. I'm not sure at what point they start to view these applications. They explicitly say admission is conditional on your second semester grades and the deans cert, which in my opinion is misleading. With that being said and since they aren't ED, I don't understand why they would ever extend an offer off first semester grades.

Apparently an interview is a good sign at WUSTL- I was offered admission.
Haven't told anyone I want to transfer yet, so I'll just post how excited I am here
