Not really interested in Chicago in the long run. Interested in Big Law Secondary markets close to mine or my wife's home (PA or OH), DC, or NYC. Is there a significant difference b/w Georgetown or Northwestern for these purposes?

About 10% difference big firm placement according to LST (49 > 39 in favor of Northwestern). But 60% of Georgetown grads end up in NYC or DC, whereas less than 25% of Northwestern grads end up in those cities. If you know you don't want Chicago I think you could justify taking Georgetown over Northwestern.

Is the general consensus that Northwestern's superior BigLaw placement is due to self-selection: NW takes such a high % of previous work experience that already place well?

I think the general consensus is that the previous work experience is a factor in them having better placement, but since there aren't statistics for this, nobody can determine how much can really be attributed to that.
