T4 --> best possible

Im trying to transfer from a t4 in Florida to the best school possible. I'm ranked 14 out of 300, top 4-5% and i've already applied to UF & FSU but waiting to hear back. I've heard of a few students that have got into Emory with a 3.1 which is around top 20%, so i'm trying to reach deep. Any ideas?

This thread has a bunch of opinions

After reading a bunch of old threads and the spreadsheet T14 is not "dead in the water" but its not going to be easy. Maybe the top 6 are out......but the others are worth an application fee (its only money).

You can probably get some of the schools that take more transfers. Try GULC, WUSTL, UCLA, Berkeley, GW.

I agree. Give it a shot. Worse case scenario you're down a couple hundred bucks. It's worth the chance. GULC accepts a lot of transfers.

Apply to wherever you want to go. The worst they can do is say no, right?
A lot of top schools are losing 1L students this fall and they need tuition revenue from somewhere: transfer students. Apply, and note somewhere on the personal statement that you have a job guaranteed at a friend or family's law firm after graduation which will last longer than one year (which these people love to hear in order to buttress their USNEWS stats) in case Biglaw/OCI does not work out.
Alternatively, if you are accepted as a transfer student, use the acceptance letter to demand a full scholarship at your school for the remaining two years.
Good luck getting those letters of recommendation and transcripts. I hear that low ranked schools make it almost impossible to transfer.

Thank you, everyone! I ended up applying to GULC and GW so hopefully one of those will bite. Coming from a t4, I know my options are limited but I guess I should have thought of that before I decided to slack off in undergrad.

Your options are not that limited. I attend a t4 as well. My friend finished 3rd/529 and got accepted into Georgetown. We have 3 students accepted into Georgetown from the same school. I finished in the top 26% and I am one of three that I know of that were accepted to Emory.
Good luck to you.

Crazy...after my 1L at a T4 you needed top 5 percent for emory. One kid was # 2 in the class and got rejected from Gtown

Well, I mean the T-4 I went to was pretty crooked with their rankings. They added part-time students to the full-time 1L ranking to skew the actual rankings. So I really think the decisions were made off grades.
But the decline in applicants is playing a huge factor as well. But my friend that got into Georgetown had other factors that got him in. He was a Bosnian refugee, he booked 6 out of 10 classes. Every professor at our school praised him for being the best law student they have ever taught. I am sure his letters were very solid.

What does anyone on here think my chances are coming from a T4 in Florida to UF or FSU ranked in the top 30%?

From what I have found in researching, both schools accept the majority of their transfers from schools in Florida so we will see.
