Should I Transfer

So, I did unexpectedly well both semesters of my 1L year at MVP and I think I'm around top 10-15% (no idea about LR yet, they haven't released who's on it). All things considered, I'm pretty happy with my options for OCI and if I was biglaw or bust, I wouldn't be posting here. However, given how well I did and my minimal debt (non-scholarship reasons), I have begun to seriously think about academia as an option. As such, I've been considering if it's worth it to try to transfer to HYS.

The issue here is, do I have enough of a chance to go through the effort of transferring. My scores getting into MVP weren't great, I was below 25% GPA and at the median LSAT (though with great W/E and recs) and honestly love it at my school. At the same time however, I'm lucky enough to have done well enough in school to make academia a distant but still potential option (through transferring) and am looking at law prof jobs with envy (not helped by RAing for a prof this summer). Do you think it would be worth it to put in some transfer apps or should I just take a chance on the clerkship market and most likely succumb to the ease of OCI and a biglaw job?

Apply. See what your choices are in a couple months. Then make the tough decision.

If you are at MVP and are in the top 10-15% you are not going to have a much better shot at HYS. I transfered to a top 20 from a tier 2. But I never understood transferring from CCNMVP to HYS. If you are ranked that high at those schools you are going to do great.

Apply and see where you get in. But just know that there are a lot of professors from MVP, academia is unpredictable, if you really want to be a professor try to get something published and start now. Honestly there are some professors who come from crappy schools but are article and book production houses.
