Is it worth transferring?

I'm pretty curious in terms of if transferring is really worth the hassle. Here's my situation: I'm likely going to (unexpectedly) pan out to top 5-8% at a high tier 2 (Top 60). I was very disappointed in the job I got 1L summer and I have discovered I have no interest in practicing in the city I go to school in and suspect I may dislike working in the region as a whole. It was never my dream to go to some other school, I just want to get the most bang for my buck. I'm willing to spend more on my education but I'm not convinced the value is there. TLS says the median salary is more than double at some of the schools I have a shot transferring to. If that's true I might pony up the more than double tuition

So let's say I get into a top 20 school. Am I really going to make double the money and be able to work wherever I want vs. where I'm at? I guess I just want to know if its really worth it vs. just doing exceptionally well at a mediocre school.

you really need to do more research into the effects of the bimodal salary distribution - I thin it'll help to get some of your misconceptions straightened out.
