Top Law Schools

Is it worthwhile to point out that you are receiving X amount of aide at School A, in hopes of getting an equal amount of aide when you transfer to School B? How often do schools award $$$ to transfer students?

You could try, but I don't think anyone has ever successfully gotten scholarship money at the new school. Just isn't how the system works.

I don't think transferring works like this. It isn't like with regular admissions where you can try to get schools to match scholarships. I've never heard of any transfer student getting scholarship money at their new 2L school. I think some schools give need-based aid though.

Well that would suck to give up a full ride or even 1/2 scholly at a lower ranked school just to go to a better ranked school (depending on the school of course). Would they even consider it if you were say top 10% or even top 5% in your class?

At a lot of schools, you need to have that rank just to have the chance to transfer, so I don't see why they'd offer a scholarship on top of that.

You're only getting a scholarship from your old school to keep you there. Why would the new school want to offer you a scholarship if your LSAT/GPA doesn't help them with USNews rankings?

I've heard of 1 case where SLS offered our #4 ranked student half tuition to transfer. My school is a high T2. It sounds crazy (especially coming from Stanford), but I guess this student was a veteran and had a lot of experience in the Navy before coming to law school. I guess some softs matter...

I personally know someone who negotiated a 1/3 tuition scholarship from a (lower) T20 based on other transfer acceptances.

Almost all law schools will blatantly tell you that transfer students do NOT qualify for scholarship money.

Some of them right in the application.

SLS offers need aid so that's what he/she most likely got.

I got money (not aid) from a transfer school, I think it was 5-10k a year and was a fairly lateral transfer.
