Transfer with a C+ in my Spring 1L grades?

I'm at a TTTT in Florida. Cumulative 3.54, rankings are not out yet as some sections are still waiting on grades, but I should be top 10%, maybe 15%. Will a C+ from the spring hurt my transfer application?

I've already applied to my target School UF/FSU/UM with my fall transcripts in the CAS report. I had a 3.85 in the Fall (A, A, A-, A- and pass for LRW). For the Spring I knew I slacked a little but was astonished to get a C+ along with B,B,B,A,A including LRW. Spring gpa is 3.30 (final / including the C+).

Will this hurt my transfer to UF/FSU/UM range? Would it hurt an attempt at Emory?

Assuming it will hurt, should I take any additional action to mitigate the damage?

It will hurt an attempt to transfer anywhere...

op here - I'll be sure to edit for you regarding the % symbol. Maybe inserting inappropriate symbols is what landed me at a TTTT.

I bet your fine for FSU. They take the most transfers in FL. What curve is your school on ? 3.5 is most likely not in the top 10%. I think the fact that your grades were excellent in the first semester and declined might hurt you. But you already applied to FL schools correct? Let me know how it goes

op here - FSU is my last choice but other sources also indicate they are the most lax. Current school is on a 2.0 curve. The last 3 years top 10% has been 3.1 - 3.4. They don't rank individually in the fall, but falls top 10% was 3.25 and above.

If the curve is what you say it is, then you should be well within the top 10% and probably closer to top 5%. From what I've read, schools mostly just look at class rank and don't consider trends in grades. I'm assuming your from Florida, since you go to a TTTT there and are targeting Florida schools. I would think your a near lock for FSU and UF. I wouldn't suggest Miami because the employment sucks (I considered going there) and the tuition would be double that of the other 2 Florida schools (assuming your a FL resident). As for emory, it will probably be a reach, and TTTT transfer cycles are more unpredictable when tageting lower T1 schools. Kudos to your school for getting grades out so quickly; I got at least a month and am sending out apps completely blind.

I'm confident on the curve. Most TTTT in Florida do the same 2.0 slam, I'm at one of them.

Barry's Curve: Source --LinkRemoved--

A and B+= 15% of the course grades

B= 25% of the course grades

C+ and C= 50% of the course grades

D+, D, and F= 10% of the course grades

"Overall, for first year courses the curve is about a C to C+ as most students will receive a C+ or lower in each course. This seems pretty difficult and could affect a graduates ability to obtain an associate position."

Florida Coastal's: (per http://www.fcsl.edu/career-services/grading-policy)

Grade distribution for first year courses is:

A, A- 15%
B+, B, B- 25%
C+, C, C- 45%
D+, D, F 15%

Those curves are fucking horrible.

But no, conventional wisdom is that your class rank is all that matters.

You'll be fine. I had a C in one of my 1L classes (top 15% in a T3 Florida school) and got accepted to FSU.

tbf the bottom at those schools wont be getting jobs as attorneys and would do better to drop out. So the Ds and Fs don't actually hurt.

I had a C in Legal Writing first semester, straight As otherwise for first/second semesters at my original TTTT. I got in to FSU. The C+ isn't a deal-breaker, but the median spring semester grades are not helping you. You're not really competitive for UF. FSU is a shot, but only because they finance their school on transfers. Emory is probably out of your range.

So I have applied to fsu for fall of 2013 and was wondering what you guys thought my chances were. Top 30% (90/300) at Barry. 2.826 gpa. I have also already applied to the Florida bar and got cleared which i guess can show them that I intend to take the Florida bar (not sure if that helps but its something I guess. I also did way better spring semester than I did fall so that may or may not help.
