Letter of Rec. Should I?

I developed a fairly good relationship with my legal writing professor and I got an A- in the class, but I haven't been doing as well this semester (median and below median on 2 assignments). Would it be okay to still ask the prof for a transfer LOR?

Who are your other options? What are your grades in other classes with other professors?

Also, what are the credentials of your LRW professor? At my school LRW professors are just adjuncts, overwhelmingly alumni, and typically have weak academic resumes (relative to tenured faculty). That might not matter if you don't have better options, but if you can get a recommendation from someone who attended one of the schools you're applying to, or someone relatively well known or senior at your school, that might be more advisable.

If for whatever reason you still want a recommendation from this particular professor, you should probably wait to see if you pull your grade up.
