Transfer to UT from TTT?

I'm currently at a TTT on a full scholarship and stipend not in Texas. I grew up in Texas and went to undergrad at UT and would still qualify as in-state. My numbers were 3.5/167 coming out. I probably wouldn't have gotten into UT but its at least competitive and they say they consider it (although I know it's a very minor factor if it even counts at all).

I'm 8/233 at my current school right now. What are the odds that I should be able to get in assuming I essentially maintain where I'm at? I know UT doesn't usually take very many transfers, but I know their class size is down this year. However, I would assume my huge ties and compelling reasons for wanting back in Texas would increase my chances?

Thanks for any advice.

What are your "huge ties" and "compelling reasons"?

Maybe my "huge ties" is an overreach. I was just talking about being from Texas and having gone to undergrad at UT.

My compelling reason is so I could be close to a very unique employer that I could work for during the year.

As to the first, you're right. It's an overreach.

If the unique employer is the Texas Supreme Court, then I'd say you've got a shot. Literally any other employer is probably not compelling. For a data point, I was 8/212 after 1L at my T2, from Texas, did my undergrad at UT, and wanted to transfer to be near my fiancé. Was summarily rejected. Not saying you've got no chance, but I definitely wouldn't tell your employer to keep a spot for you next year.

This is a little discouraging. I guess I'll bank on the reduced class size then and hope they view my employment as compelling. It is not Texas Supreme Court unique, but it is extremely unique in its own way. I know of 0 UT Law alums who have gotten into this field.
