DNCG to Columbia/NYU?

Currently at DNCG, and I think I have some pretty compelling personal reasons to transfer to the NYC area.
First semester GPA was 3.666, above the top 30%, but the school doesn't tell us any more than that.
No real WE, no URM, do I have a decent shot at transferring to either NYU or Columbia?

COME BACK WITH YOUR FULL 1L GRADES.

If you stay at top 30%, it is worth the app probably. Who knows though. I was top 20% at DCNG and am at CCN now. But I am diverse and had WE/speak a rare language.

Not sure why the poster above is so angry in his/her first sentence. But I think you've got a shot at it with top 1/3 grades. It might actually help that your school doesn't rank above 30% (unless they rank 25% and you didn't make the cut, etc.). Transferring is such a black box, though.

Definitely work on killing it this semester, though, then reevaluate in light of career goals and why you "need" to be in NY v. DNCG. I can't think of too many reasons to give up top 1/3 at DNCG for CCN, especially if you have any kind of scholarship at your current school.
