Any other Columbia students wondering what to do next after being admitted? I've met with career services and begun preparing for OCI, but I've not really has any communication from the school about what other further steps I need to take.
Anybody have any ideas about how to register for classes, apply for financial aid, take care of any other necessary stuff for next year...?

Good call on this thread.
I remember a checklist somewhere of things to do. It's a lot of administrative crap. I think I've done everything except select my health insurance.
Also, I just got my university housing waitlist number: 622. If anyone is interested in rooming together and going apartment hunting, please send me a PM.

Yes, good call. I'm also definitely attending, have no clue about next steps, and am looking for housing/a roommate.
Congrats to the admits, good luck to those still on the applicants thread.

Have you been in touch with career services?

My career services person told me to ideally submit my EIP bids on Monday. Ugh. So soon.

I'm totally overwhelmed. Also, why is my Columbia email address full of random numbers? Anybody else have a lame user ID like that, or is it just me?
I will be spending lots of time on this over the weekend and probably stalking this thread. Ugh.

yes what the heck is that ID? Plus the mandatory computer training is a little backwards. I dont need to see pictures of squiggly lines connecting a bunch of computers together. Nor do I need to now how to access the floppy disk drive...

Lol that computer training was hysterical. I just clicked through everything, took the test at the end, and I passed. Thank god for multiple guess. But it was silly and really unnecessary.

100% overwhelmed. I'm totally excited I received an offer, but there is so much to do, it's a little intimidating. Also, how did you get your e-mail set-up? I did computer training, but have not received my e-mail address yet.

The one thing I haven't seen (or really looked for) is when class registration happens.
Also I saw the calendar of events but other than oci and start of classes it sounds like we'll have about 3 weeks to get situated.

I hunted around on the IT Website and found a link to activate my email. I had to look up my UNI in the class directory in order to do it. It was a little surreal seeing my name listed in the Columbia student directory, I have to say.

Go here
http://cuit.columbia.edu/cuit/manage-my-uni to activate your UNI, then go to
https://cubmail.cc.columbia.edu/ to open your email. Ya kinda crazy feels like using the internet in 1995.

FYI, there are instructions somewhere in there to have it forward email to your gmail account (or whatever you use). I did that and now I can send emails from my Columbia account through gmail and all of the messages come into the gmail account. Much easier.
Also, it's great we are all ridiculously overwhelmed. Solidarity.

Can you post how to? Also is there a way for my columbia.edu emails to actually have my name on them instead of my UNI?

Login with your uni and you can set up forwarding. Although I'm not sure how to set-up gmail so you can send via your columbia email through gmail.

Got in today and at least a 50/50 shot I wind up going here. Honestly, it's the absurd pace of getting things set up that may scare me off, but I'm tagging the thread anyway.

Last year they gave us almost no info on how to register for courses and I figured it out about 5 hours before it was due. I think it involved faxing something over. I can't remember where that info is, but there is a form and deadline hidden somewhere in the labyrinth of sites. Similarly, journal applications are due without warning; I almost missed the deadline for those. They're very focused on getting you through EIP, which is very important, but they give you almost no info on the other important stuff.

Same exact thing happened to me.
Congrats to the transfer class of 2014!!! Welcome to CLS.

Yeah, the journal apps are due on July 27th just for everyone's info. I can't remember how you find the page it is on, but it's somewhere in there.
I'll have to look up the class registration stuff.
At least they seem to be doing a decent job of prepping us for EIP.
I'm still looking for a roommate if anyone is interested. Pref male.

How long did it take to get your UNI activated? I just paid down my deposit and am wondering if this is automated (so I can do all this crap this weekend) or if I will need to wait until Monday.

I asked the admission office. They said it took five days to activate UNi after you laid your deposit.

Fantastic. I'll still be able to do bids for EIP right?

Hmm. Mine took 2 business days. I'm not sure if it is automatic or if someone has to approve it.
But bidding is done through Symplicity, so I think you will be ok. Pretty sure that is separate (but I can't really remember how I did my Symplicity registration stuff).
