Yale Transfer Fantasy Land 2012

How many of you all dropped an app to Yale? I mailed mine last week and Yale requested my report on LSAC today.
I'm (tentatively) #1 at a 50ish school, 4 high grades, military veteran, 3 current professor LORs. I wonder if there are a dozens of T10 students applying to transfer... feel free to out yourselves!

Checking in. #2 at T-25. 3 CALIs. One killer LOR, one mediocre. 1L SA. I was hoping to hang on to #1 after first semester. Now I'm even less likely to get in than before.
Mailing out my app tomorrow.
Yale 250 topic?

You have a better shot than me! My topic was kind of an epistemic coming of age...

Sounds like something Yale would like!
Mine is a musing on the existence of (a) God.

Not sure, but anywhere between 1-2% at T20, 4 years WE, and 1L SA. My school doesn't rank, so without knowing exactly where I am I feel like I have anywhere from a decent chance to almost none at all given the number of T14 people that will be applying.
Yale250 on getting too dependent on my fastball in college.

That's fantastic. Jealous.

Yale and their "We announce acceptances the day before classes start" policy sure is a lot of fun.

You start class the 3rd week of July?
Or are you being hyperbolic.

Yale requested my LSAC report this morning. I was starting to wonder if they'd received my application.

transferquestion123 wrote:I'm a longshot, but I figured since I was already applying to H/S I'd go ahead and submit the app. Top-10% at a T10, UGPA/LSAT around Y's 30th percentile.
Why are you transferring?? Ive always been curious about intra-T10 transfers

And what makes you think this matters?

This is kind of the problem with Yale. You get people from Columbia and Penn applying to transfer there. By the time you get down to my lowly 50s school, they have probably stopped looking and gone out drinking because transfer season is over!

CALI Awards came out today, worth it to send an addendum? If so, since they prefer paper applications, would you guys recommend sending it as a hardcopy letter, or do you think they would accept it as an email attachment like most schools?

I have emailed them a few times, no response. I think I will call some time in July to make sure they got my updates.

The application instructions say the admissions office will send out an email to confirm your application is complete, or listing any missing materials. This hasn't happened for me. Anybody else?

I haven't received anything from them. Because they announce so late, I won't bother following up until at least next week.

Right, but I want to make sure nothing is missing (namely, my UG Dean's Cert) before it's too late.

It sounds like some of you are a week or two ahead of me. I overnighted my materials earlier this week, which - according to FedEx - arrived w/out a problem.
My understanding is that YLS will now request my CAS report from LSAC, after which, I'll be complete, right? Just trying to make sure I didn't forget to upload documents to LSAC, etc. When did you guys pay the $21 CAS fee to LSAC? After YLS makes the request?
Any advice/confirmation is appreciated.

After YLS made the request, LSAC had an alert that I needed to pay for a report. After paying, the alert stayed but changed color to indicate no action required by user. It actually took a day or two before LSAC sent it, but they did send it.

Also, since folks are sharing:
UCLA/Texas/USC/Vandy
Top 3% (named scholarship given to top 5-10 students - no rank though)
4 years work experience + 1L SA at top firm in major market
Good luck everyone.

Giving it a go. A long shot but what the hell. Top 4% at GULC, 2 CALIs, 2 excellent recommendations and lots of solid WE.
A question - YLS says decisions won't start rolling until the week of July 18th...but HLS seems to give a quick turnaround time. Anyone think it's possible to negotiate a longer timeframe if (a) you get an acceptance at HLS but (b) you're holding out for YLS?
