Top 25% at a T-25, around a 3.6 GPA. (Also, good softs, undergrad degree, internship experience etc.)

NYU, COLUMBIA (Very close regional ties, family health reasons main purpose of transferring, looking to be closer to home)
PENN, CORNELL (Still regionally closer than current law school)

Impressive comment champ. Seriously creative, you must make some killer finger-paintings for mommy to post on the fridge.

I'm sure you know that you're not a shoo in for any. Did you write a really persuasive reason for why you'd like to transfer? I don't think you'll get NYU/Columbia. But maybe Cornell.

Almost certainly out at NYU/CLS. Might get Cornell but with no OCI I don't think it makes sense.

Maybe this is a naive question, but how much consideration do they give your reason for transferring. For example, the health issues in my family have been serious over the past year. I really do need to be closer to home, but at the same point do not to (nor does my family want me to) sacrifice the quality of my legal education. Does that matter at all to them?

Most people have in their PS some kind of personal need/desire to be in the region. Is a sick family member more persuasive than other reasons? And will it make the adcomm dip below their normal grade range? Maybe, but only they can answer that question.

I tend to doubt that it will give you much of a boost, especially since they know you have other options (say, Fordham) if you absolutely had to be in NYC next year.
