Any boost for doing write-on competition before acceptance?

Does anyone know if the admissions committee even know or care if you have participated in the write-on competition at their school before application is reviewed? In the rare scenario that the applicant would have qualified for LR through the write-on, does that get taken into account during application review? I'm debating whether I want to do this beastly write-on competition on top of my current school's write-on competition.

Harvard? Just do it for practice

Maybe. But I'm not sure it'd help you.
I would imagine that "likelihood to attend if accepted" is a relevant factor in their decisions. If you took the time to participate in the write-on, it may help you there. But I wouldn't be surprised if coming off like a weirdo with too much time on your hands would hurt you more.
If you do participate, make sure you had great grades this semester. Otherwise they might think you suck at prioritizing your time.

Yeah Harvard - I think Columbia also has it during the same time period actually. What kind of practice would it serve? Prep for actual note writing in the future? I guess I'll suck it up and just do it since exams are over. It just sucks having to do multiple write-on when you don't have a clue if you will even be accepted.

Harv L Rev notifies admissions when a transfer applicant writes on. However, it's pretty rare that actually this happens (nobody managed to write on in my 30-person class).

Thanks for the info man, and damn, those odds are bad. I know former transfers who got on Columbia and Yale's, can't believe not a single transfer got on Harvard Law Review.

Have you actually started your school's LR competition? I can't imagine doing two of these.

HLR announces decisions in what, late July? And HLS announces transfer acceptances/rejections in early July...can't see how doing the write on, or even writing on, helps at Harvard.

I'm relaying what the stated policy is. Maybe the LR board is lying, or maybe your opinion is wrong. I tend to think the latter.
