Top Law Schools

I thought I would start this for all of the hopefuls.

I am under the impression that even though a lot of us have good grades getting in is a huge black box.

Yeah. Apply wait get denied or deferred.

Is the Law School Info Form available now or do we have to wait until the application is available on LSAC? I just want to get the ball rolling if there's something I could ask my school to do now.

I think we have to download it from the LSAC. You at a T1 or T2?

So out of curiosity, what is everyone's prediction on what it'll take to get in ED?

My guess is <5% at a T1 (say in the 30's or higher)

Any thoughts?

Transfer cycles are not very predictable.

It could be. I think it is <5% T1 or T2 , a very compelling reason to attend, good letters of Rec, great personal statement, and there is just something about you that they like. The transfer class is very small so they can be very selective.

I am at a T2 and I am unranked at the moment so I have no idea where I am, but I think it is a black box. There are only 25 seats on a good year and everyone is going to be <10% at some tier, so I think they consider a lot more than pure rank of school and grades.

What makes it confusing to me is that we do not know the size of the applicant pool for ED while we know the size for the regular cycle is around 150-200ish.


This is just a guess. I wouldn't put a hard Tier level on it just that you have to be in the top 10% of your class and something more....

+1. Nebulous to say the least.

Although I'm sure there's a grade-tier balancing test at work to a limited extent, UChi does seem more interesting in attracting a certain kind of student, rather than simply playing the numbers game. Who that student is though, I have no idea.

I'll hop on in here. #1 at a T25 in the midwest. Not sure if I'm going to apply ED yet. Can't decide whether I want to see my second semester grades and try for HYS.

I would hold off. You might have several options if your grades hold.

I am going all in. I am <10% (unranked at moment) at a T2. But Chicago would probably the very best I could do.

I agree LS exams are unpredictable, but you would have it locked probably.....so that would suck for everyone else here

Ya thats a tough one, if I were you I'd probably hold off. You've got a legit shot at HYS and you're #1 for a reason.

With that said its still a risk, I guess it just depends on how risk-adverse you are.

One way to look at it is that it will be the best motivation to bust your ass that you could possibly give yourself.

I looked at Yahoo Groups for data on this nothing useful all over the place. Few ED's got in....

I am at a T4, Top 2% ... what do you guys think my chances are of getting into Chicago ED?

I'm in a similar situation and I decided to not apply. If people from T1 schools in the top 10 % are worried, I figured it wasn't worth the application fee. If you have the money to pay for apps, it can't hurt.

Good luck, guys. I transferred ED this past cycle. It was pretty reassuring to know where I was before I even took my spring 1L finals. As for level of school required to get in: I think it would be a very tough sell if your school is below the mid-30s.

Check your LSAC account. Maybe it is just a place holder date.
