From my limited time perusing this board, it seems like Campos has a bad rep.

But I found this stat hard to believe: "40-50% of transfer 2Ls at Columbia are now comfortably employed."

This seems like bullsh** to me, from someone who has an ax to grind. Am I right?

Some "Columbia transfer" who wrote some long blog post on that blog apparently went to a regional T3, was top 20%, but managed to transfer into Columbia as a 2L? And they apparently got into two T14s as a 0L but opted for a T3? Sounds fishy to me.

There is absolutely no way that's true. Clearly this "correspondent" doesn't have any idea what s/he is talking about because his/her next quote is:

As for the number of transfers, that is in the ABA law school stats. It turns out there were 78 transfers my year (and I heard "around 90" for the current 2Ls).

Campos says that this is a "Columbia 3L" which would mean that the current 2L s/he is referencing would be the class of 2013. There were 42 transfers to CLS this year. Good info by the "correspondent."

ETA: I also agree with this; doesn't make much sense:

Anecdotally I would say its much higher than this. 95% are going to firms, a handful of others are doing public interest or government.

Same as what Vronsky is reporting for my MVP. Transfers generally cleaned up... almost everyone I know is either going BigLaw or prestigious PI.

Pretty sure this is the one. Good to get some stats on the numbers of transfers to each place. Cornell is quite the anomaly in 2010.

FYI- we can't link directly to the blog. Appaerently, it was spammed here extensively when it first appeared, so the link is blocked through the spam filter. That is why I didn't even try to link it in the first place. Sorry I didnt explain that.

Also- I didn't post the link for the content of the article- but I thought the table of data might be useful. Sometimes I agree with campos, sometimes I don't. This wasn't a very good article. Still, I found the data of number of people transferring in and out from each school pretty interesting.

I couldn't copy and paste the data here without losing the formatting and I didn't want to take the time to clean it up. Maybe someone else can do a better job than I could.

Campos posted some of these same dubious anecdotal tidbits earlier, was laughed at for the same ridiculousness, and never backed it up with anything. Not surprised he then decides to take those dubious stories and paste them over his blog.

Also, his transfer buddy seems clueless about admissions just as much as he is about, well, everything else:

And, interestingly enough, the two that admitted me needed help on their 75th percentile LSAT, and the three that rejected me were lagging on their 25th percentile GPA. But of course all those admissions were done holistically and not according to some formula.

25th and 75th percentiles don't matter in the slightest for rankings.

2. As I have pointed out in other posts, some of the "correspondents" the author relies upon tend to give him misleading information or have provided him with stats that are likely false (the top 20% TTT guy with his T6 acceptances). I would take anything about transfers on that blog with a grain of salt.

That said, I support the author's mission to the extent that he is trying to publicize the true value proposition of law school.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal. HTH.

Current 2L transfer to CLS here.

So there were 42 CLS transfers this year - 100% are employed for the summer, with most v25.

Employers love transfers.

Stop trying to evade the word filter, or you'll be banned. Hint: If we block a site, that means we won't like you trying to direct people there.
