Talked to them yesterday. They said the committee has not made ANY decisions yet but that they will before the end of April...so sometime this week.

So I guess the consensus is that the status update was likely a decision made on your file good or bad? Is there anyone out there that is still waiting on an update?

How can we really know at this point? It's just guessing either way. It just sucks that our year is hearing back later than last. I think at least some people knew something by now last year.Mce252 wrote:So I guess the consensus is that the status update was likely a decision made on your file good or bad? They may have just fixed the admit website thing so no one is getting that advance notice.canesfan1986 wrote:How can we really know at this point? It's just guessing either way. That is great -- this means we all lose our GW deposit money. Are you 100% this is what they told you. This is insane.

Re: Georgetown EA Applicants
This was an email response I got from the admissions office on April 4th:
"Please note that the status check system will not update after an application has been completed. That said, your application is currently under review and we are told to expect decisions in the next few weeks."

My theory is that those who got in the first 2 days are in... better to have gotten in earlier. Looking at the rankings of the schools etc this would make sense but anyone's guess is better than mine. Anyone willing to call today??

Re: Georgetown EA Applicants
I just called. I said I had noticed a status change on my application, and asked if it was any indication of whether the Admissions Committee was closer to a decision. She said it was not... I gave her my name, and she claimed to have looked at my file and there was nothing to indicate whether a decision, good or bad, had been rendered. I asked if a decision would be rendered this week, she said possibly -- most likely within the next week or two. She said to keep an eye on mail/email...

Cut the check for GW; if you don't get into GULC, then you've got a seat saved. If you do and GW hasn't cashed it, call your bank and cancel the check, call GW and rescind your offer and then deposit at GULC. I can't imagine GW is going to run down to the bank like an 8 year old on their birthday to cash all the deposit checks immediately.Hoping5000 wrote:I think we should all call the office. They probably make daily deposits at the bank if they don't have a check scanner at the school.crossarmant wrote:Cut the check for GW; if you don't get into GULC, then you've got a seat saved. The less time the admissions office spends taking calls from you knuckleheads the more time they'll have to admit people

This would be true if an actual decision-maker and not the secretary were answering the phones.IsTheFatLadySinging wrote:The less time the admissions office spends taking calls from you knuckleheads the more time they'll have to admit people

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is a no-no that could come back to bite you at some point. Also, you're enclosing a signed document that says you're depositing $1,000 to save your seat. That's probably a contract. But contracts were last semester, so who can remember?opX wrote:not sure if that is legal or "ethical".crossarmant wrote:Cut the check for GW; if you don't get into GULC, then you've got a seat saved.
