Writing LORs is part of their job. A thank you note is appropriate, but that's all. The school might not even allow them to accept gifts from students.

I got my recommenders from my professional life gifts, but that was because it wasn't their job to do so. Profs expect to write LORs, I'm jumping on the "don't do this" band wagon.

But if you, a small box of candy or a starbucks gift card or something might be appropriate?
