I talked to the registrar, and the cutoffs won't be known for about 2 weeks.
Also, we will only know top 5% and top 20%.

Yeah, that's what they did last year. So they haven't changed the policy and those posters were not telling the truth. I'm guessing the cut-offs won't change all that much.drmguy wrote:I talked to the registrar, and the cutoffs won't be known for about 2 weeks.

But keep in mind if you're on the border of one of the cut-offs, you should get a copy of your official transcript. Because according to the Spring e-mail I didn't get High Honors (5%), but when I ordered a copy of my transcript for one of my firm interviews, it turned out that I did get it (and I know a couple of other people who got Honors/Dean's List who had the same thing happen).

Wow, keg, that would really piss me off.keg411 wrote: ...according to the Spring e-mail I didn't get High Honors (5%), but when I ordered a copy of my transcript for one of my firm interviews, it turned out that I did get it (and I know a couple of other people who got Honors/Dean's List who had the same thing happen).
Also OP, ONE B won't kill you. All A's and a single B is more explainable than all A-'s. If you took the summer jump start I don't think they consider that in your ranked GPA, just an FYI.
good luck.

All A- would make his GPA higher than a 3.61 so not sure what explaining he would have to do.ellebee wrote:Wow, keg, that would really piss me off.keg411 wrote: ...according to the Spring e-mail I didn't get High Honors (5%), but when I ordered a copy of my transcript for one of my firm interviews, it turned out that I did get it (and I know a couple of other people who got Honors/Dean's List who had the same thing happen).

Don't give up. I got a B in torts last year at a TTT and transferred to CCN. I recommend that you use this opportunity to review the exam with your prof, and reflect on how to improve next semester.
Good luck!

Re: 3.62 GPA at Rutgers Camden Law School
Keg41 - I was misinformed. I think they will keep the A+ as a 4.33 which keeps the cut-offs to similar levels from prior years. But like someone else said, they break down the rankings to either top 5% or top 20%.

I think the percentages are based off on the First Year Honor stats, not Dean's Scholar/List. So it means you probably are within the top 10% of the class.

Re: 3.61 GPA at Rutgers Camden Law School
First Year High Honors for 1L's = Top 5% of the 1L class.
Dean's Scholar/Dean's List are for the entire school and tend to be higher because the curve inflates.
Also, check your transcripts if you are over a 3.7 for a semester, because sometimes they give you High Honors even if the e-mails say otherwise (this happened to me last Spring; also do the same thing if your close to the regular Honors/Dean's List cut-offs). And if you took summer contracts, it doesn't count in the honors calculation; so you would get honors based only on your semester GPA minus your summer grade.

So that means the person(s) with a 3.717 is the first person outside of 5%? Would you happen to know who I can ask to figure out if I fall within the top 15%, 10%?

I was under the impression that you need a median to ascertain rank that way. As you know we don't have an official median.crossarmant wrote:http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=157992udonisandtrinity wrote:Congrats Drmguy!

Also, our school deliberately provides data points that are most likely not perfect so rank can never been determined.
Example-If 4.9% of students had 3.8+ and 10% had a 3.7 the high honors would most likely be 3.7.
In conclusion, you could determine an very rough approximate rank range for your own use but providing it to employers might not be a good idea.

Do other schools separate honors and distinctions for full-time students from part-time?

I don't know how many combine, but personally I think combining the two is a load of crap. The only other ASW I went to did not combine them.udonisandtrinity wrote:Anyone know how many full-time students there are?
Part-Time Day/Evening students can have better GPA's, but many schools don't allow transfers for part-time students. But we're still competing with part-time students. Do the admissions committee take this into account? Do other schools separate honors and distinctions for full-time students from part-time?

We don't have a firm median, but it gives you a range of about 3% more or less. If you input numbers into the spreadsheet for anywhere between a 3.0-3.1 you get at least an idea. Either ways, when it comes to transferring, the school sends out a specific letter explaining their grading/ranking policies.

I went to Rutgers-Newark, so I assume it's similar (but I'm not totally sure). I finished 1L with a 3.58 (including a B in Torts). I sent transfer applications to UConn, BU, and BC. I was accepted by UConn and BU. I accepted BU's offer before BC decided. So I think you could definitely get into the T25.

Re: 3.61 GPA at Rutgers Camden Law School
As someone from out of state, despite being at RU-C, I can understand what he's doing. He's not focused on the law schools or med schools. It's all about undergrad rankings and funding. As it is, Camden and Newark have significantly lower standards than New Brunswick; by cutting them off they can better focus funds on the main campus, emphasize on research, etc. It should help the reputation of Rutgers in general, unfortunately he sacrifices the satellite campuses for that. I feel it may be better for NJ, but sucks to be at RU-C right now.TTRansfer wrote:I like Christie, for the most part. This idea is fucking retarded, though.
